Omaha
02:44
|
|||
Last night I dreamt you left me
On a boat long and tall
Stared into your eyes
Didn’t know you at all.
Captain rang the bell
Bringing everyone around
Watched my heart breaking
As you drifted out of town.
Next night I dreamt you kissed me
On a bicycle for two
Telling me how you missed me
I confessed I missed you too.
Take me to the station
Back to Omaha
Thinking about my salvation
I don’t wanna fall.
Now you know my story
I keep it close to me
Too many lovers bound for glory
Too many lost out at sea.

Down Bound Train
03:16
|
|||
A stranger lying on a bar room floor
Had drank so much he could drink no more,
And so he fell asleep with a troubled brain
To dream that he rode on that down bound train.
The engine with blood was sweaty and damp
And brilliantly lit with a brimstone lamp,
And imps for fuel was shoveling bones
While the furnace rang with a thousand groans.
The boiler was filled with lots of beer
The devil himself was the engineer,
The passengers were most a motley crew,
Some were foreigners and others he knew.
Rich men and lost beggars in rags
Handsome young ladies and wicked old hags.
As the train rushed on at a terrible pace
Sulphuric fumes scorched their hands and face,
Wider and wider the country grew
Faster and faster the engine flew,
Louder and louder the thunder crashed
Brighter and brighter the lighting flashed,
Hotter and hotter the air became
Til their clothes were burned with each quivering refrain.
Then out of the din there came a yell
Ha ha said the devil we're nearing home,
Oh how the passengers shrieked with pain
They go to Satan with this down bound train.
The stranger awoke with an anguished cry
His clothes wet with sweat and his hair standing high,
He fell on his knees on the bar room floor
And prayed a prayer like never before.
And the prayers and vows were not in vain
For he never rode that down bound train.

Let Your Hair Hang Down
03:29
|
|||
I love you twice as much as you love me,
I know you’re thinking your above me,
What can I do?
Not going to love anyone but you,
Don’t want to lose what I have found.
Why must you fight just like your mother?
Making it hard being your lover?
In the middle of the night,
Oh, babe I want to make you feel alright.
You can keep it to yourself,
I won’t let it get around,
Baby let me be your clown
What I’m saying here
Baby let your hair hang down
Let your hair hang down,
Let your hair hang down,
Let your hair hang down,
Let your hair hang down,
Let your hair hang down,
Ooooon the ground,
Whoa baby let your hair hang down.
I love you twice as much as you love me,
I know you’re thinking your above me,
What can I do?
Not going to love anyone but you,
You can keep it to yourself,
I won’t let it get around,
Ill be waiting for you babe here at the lost and found,
I wanna be your jester ‘cause I really love your crown,
Aww Baby let your hair hang down.
Let your hair hang down,
Let your hair hang down,
Let your hair hang down,
Let your hair hang down,
Let your hair hang down,
Ooooon the ground,
Aww baby let your hair hang down.

Man of Misery
03:08
|

Man of Misery
Hang your head so low
You been hangin’ round
Nowhere to go
And you’re always comin’ back for more.
Man of Misery
While the sun shines high
You hide your lonely face to cry
And you’re always feelin’ her goodbye.
Here I go out the door
Here I go feelin’ low
Head in hand
I’m a worried man
Here I go out the door feelin’ low.
Down bound train knows my name
Down bound train knows where I been
Old blue jeans subway scene
Down bound train, old blue jeans, subway scene.
There’s no such word as my sweetheart
Someday she may come back to me
Don’t know why she’d want us to part
But it made me a man of misery.
Man of Misery
While the sun shines high
You hide your lonely face to cry
And you’re always feelin' her goodbye.
Here I go out the door
Here I go feelin’ low.

I am Sailing
02:46
|
|||
Sailin’, sailin’, place I’d never been,
That’s way down south, sweet old New Orleans,
Because my hometown friends,
Treats me awful mean.
If I could holler, holler, if I could scream and cry,
It hurts me so to look up at the sky,
Because my gal turns the head,
Of every passerby.
It’s rainin’, rainin’, wind is blowin’ cold,
I thought I heard my train whistle blow,
Gonna sail so far,
I won’t be back no more.

Up and down for so long
Everything seems to go wrong
You know hey yeah, got to get along
Getting high feeling so alone.
Crash my car, crash my bike
Stay out late I can’t sleep at night
I said hey yeah, got to get along
Listen to the blues coming out of my telephone.
Met an old man liked to run his mouth
He said he’d never been down south
Well hey yeah, got to get along
Getting high feeling so alone.
Said old man you go down there
Better not where flowers in your hair
Well hey yeah, got to get along
Listen to the blues coming out of my telephone.
On the bus I met a man
Two garbage bags of empty beer cans
Well hey yeah, got to get along
Getting high feeling so alone.
Round his neck was a chain of silver
And when we spoke we both loved Bill Withers
Said hey yeah, got to get along
Baby still ain’t no sunshine when she’s gone.
Getting high feeling so alone
Getting high feeling so alone
Listen to the blues coming out of my telephone.
My oh my, what a pity
All the techies in the city
Said hey yeah, got to get along
Getting high feeling so alone.
Nobody knows what to do
Pretty soon they are coming for you
Said hey yeah, got to get along
Listen to the blues coming out of my telephone.
Getting high feeling so alone
Getting high feeling so alone
Listen to the blues coming out of my telephone.

In My Dreams
02:36
|
|||
In my dreams I walk round with you each night,
Wake up every morning just love you hold you tight.
In my dreams you’re not living with that other guy,
And I’m not staying out late most every night.
In my dreams we live in perfect harmony,
Exploring each new wonder under the old apple tree
In my dreams I walk around with you every night,
But every time I call you up we just get in a fight.
In my dreams I walk around with you every night,
Wake up every morning loving you hold you tight.
In my dreams you’re not living with that other guy,
And I’m not staying out late most every night.
In my dreams we lay around and watch TV,
And I’m going to the kitchen can I get you something to eat?
In my dreams I walk around with you every night,
But every time I call you up we just get in a fight.

Daddy's High Again
03:01
|
|||
That’s right my pretty baby your Daddy’s high again,
That’s right my pretty baby I’ve been drinkin’ that gin,
When I come home at three a.m. and you won’t let me in,
I know pretty baby I let you down again.
Last night my pretty baby I let it fly again,
Last night my pretty baby I made you cry again,
The way that I mistreated you was truly a sin,
Last night I know I let you down again.
That’s right my pretty baby your Daddy’s high again,
That’s right my pretty baby I’ve been drinkin’ that gin,
When I come home at three a.m. and you won’t let me in,
I know pretty baby I let you down again.

Six Feet Underground
04:25
|
|||
Been five years since I’ve been in your town
Hard keeping my feet on solid ground
Well it took all that time coming down
By then she was six feet underground.
Well I know you didn’t know which way to do
It’s just that when I’m asked I got to point my finger too
And every time I hear your name, just get so blue.
I’d do it all again, up to you.
Been five years since I’ve been in your town
You know what with all that rain been coming down
I guess I go up to Harlem get high all the time
Looking for that girl said she’s going to blow my mind.
Well I know I’m not the one you want to do
What can I say but to thine self be true
Just sometimes I feel, you and I are stuck like glue
I’d do it all again, up to you.
Been five years since I’ve been in your town
Hard keeping my feet on solid ground
Well you know what I’m supposed to do
I guess you gave me the run around
By then he was six feet underground
Well I know you didn’t know which way to do
What can I say but to thine self be true
Look I just want you to know that you and I are through
I’d do it all again, up to you.

Went into the restaurant late Sunday morn
I’ll have some pulled pork, green beans, and some sweet corn
I had a lot of coffee ma’am before I got here
If it’s all the same to you I think I’ll have a beer
She looked down at me and went into shock
Said we don’t sell that stuff ‘round here ‘til twelve o’clock
So, I ate in the corner and I fought off lots of stares
Left a big tip I just got out of there.
Gonna blame this one on Jesus
Don’t know what else I can do
Going to blame this one on Jesus
Look out he’s coming for you.
Now Jesus you sure get me ‘round Christmas time
Messin’ up them Catholic school girls really treated me fine
But I’ll tell you one thing and I’ll tell you right here
You know I’m not a bad guy for drinkin’ a beer
While sitting in a restaurant late Sunday morn
Make me feel bad ‘bout that GD that’s really bad form
I’m gonna blame this one on Jesus
Don’t know what else I can do
Going to blame this one on Jesus
Look out he’s coming for you.
Going to blame this one on Jesus.
